How we select Children we support
Our work focuses on supporting the most vulnerable children in our community, specifically those living in extreme poverty, facing disabilities, or impacted by HIV/AIDS and challenging family situations. Through a strict selection process involving social workers and manager verification, we identify children in dire conditions, such as poor housing, malnutrition, and single or no-parent households. While sponsors provide primary support, parents/guardians contribute a small amount per term, based on their ability, to promote shared responsibility for their child’s education.
We operate through a sponsorship program, with the Arch Leonard Schools community—staff, sponsors, children, and families

Selection Criteria
Other areas of focus
When assessing families and children for eligibility in our program, staff members conduct interviews with parents or caregivers based on the following criteria:
- Is the child between the ages of 3 and 10 years?
- Does the family fall within the local poverty index?
- Is there evidence that the child is likely to remain stable and non-transient within the community?
- Is the child or family receiving assistance from another child sponsorship organization?
We prioritize children who:
- Are orphaned, abandoned, or exploited.
- Live with a single parent or caregiver.
- Have physical or mental impairments.
- Show potential to progress in school.
- Lack access to education.
- Suffer from chronic illness or malnutrition.
Religion
We register children from both Christian and non-Christian backgrounds.
Gender
While maintaining a balance, the program ensures a 45% boys to 65% girls ratio unless stated otherwise.
